Rose Colored Ashes

This building standing tall and proud
A portrait of strength and beauty
But then the color cracks and fades
And crumbles to the ground

The truth within is brought to light
Tattered and rotting to the core
Too many storms have taken their toll
A pitiful, wretched sight

The work continues without a sound
Old lies silently tumbling one by one
Those secrets once hidden now exposed
As rose-colored ashes fall all around

“Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you are like whitewashed tombs, which outwardly appear beautiful, but within are full of dead people’s bones and all uncleanness.” ~ Matthew 23:27
